The GRTiQ 10: Zubin Pratap (Ep. 163)

In a recent episode of the GRTiQ Podcast, Zubin Pratap shared some profound insights during the GRTiQ 10 segment, providing listeners with a glimpse into his thoughts and experiences.

When asked about the book that had the most impact on his life, Zubin highlighted the Bhagavad Gita. This ancient Indian scripture, part of the larger epic Mahabharata, profoundly shaped his worldview. The narrative, set against the backdrop of war, delves into philosophical discussions about life, duty, suffering, and choices, resonating with Zubin on a deep level.

For a TV show recommendation, Zubin enthusiastically suggested “The Walking Dead,” showcasing his love for the series.

When it came to music, Zubin found it challenging to pick just one album. Instead, he chose John Mayer as his current go-to artist, reflecting his diverse taste in music.

The best advice Zubin ever received was a quote he kept on his business card: “He who thinks he can, and he who thinks he cannot are both right.” This Confucian wisdom profoundly influenced his mindset.

One key lesson Zubin has learned is that happiness stems from focusing on what is within one’s control, a principle rooted in stoic philosophy. Conversely, unhappiness often arises from dwelling on uncontrollable aspects of life.

For a practical life hack, Zubin recommended short, intense bursts of exercise lasting around 30 seconds. These physical activities help clear the mind, lift the mood, and induce both physical and emotional shifts. Additionally, he emphasized the benefits of meditation.

When reflecting on the characteristics that lead to success, Zubin underscored the importance of intelligent persistence. He advised finding the right direction and then steadfastly refusing to quit, valuing direction over speed.

In the final segment, Zubin completed three sentences:

  1. The thing that most excites him about web3 is the people.
  2. If you’re on X (formerly known as Twitter), you should be following Shane Parrish from the Knowledge Project.
  3. He is happiest when hanging out with dogs, coding, or playing the guitar, unable to choose just one.
