The GRTiQ 10: Shermin Voshmgir (Ep. 167)

In a recent episode of the GRTiQ Podcast, Shermin Voshmgir shared some profound insights during the GRTiQ 10 segment, shedding light on the influences, advice, and life lessons that have shaped her journey.

When asked about the book or article that had the most impact on her life, Shermin cited the works of Franz Kafka. She noted the relevance of Kafka’s exploration of the absurd realities of bureaucracy, especially in the context of blockchain networks and their governance technologies. The rules embedded in the protocols can sometimes lead to over-bureaucratization of the new internet, making Kafka’s observations particularly pertinent.

For movie recommendations, Shermin mentioned “Donnie Darko,” a film she appreciated deeply back in the day.

When it comes to music, Shermin expressed her need for diversity, stating that it’s impossible for her to choose just one album to listen to for the rest of her life.

The best advice she ever received was simply, “Don’t worry,” a piece of wisdom that has likely helped her navigate many challenges.

Shermin shared a unique perspective she has learned over her life: economically speaking, unless you own your own company, are a farmer, or have your own mini or maxi business, you remain an economic infant in your brain.

Her best life hack is to avoid overthinking and to start doing things. She believes that once you begin, the next steps will naturally follow.

Based on her life experiences, Shermin believes that the key to success is following your passion. She emphasizes listening to your body, as it can tell you whether you truly want to do something or not.

In the final segment, Shermin completed three sentences:

  1. The thing that most excites her about web3 is its collaborative infrastructure.
  2. Regarding who to follow on X (formerly Twitter), she expressed uncertainty about its future and couldn’t recommend anyone.
  3. She is happiest when she is relaxed.
