The GRTiQ 10: Rodrigo Coelho (Ep. 153)

During a recent GRTiQ Podcast, Rodrigo Coelho provided listeners with a glimpse into his perspectives on life, personal influences, and insights that shape his daily decisions. The GRTiQ 10 is a weekly segment diving into the personal inspirations, influences, and insights of our guests, aiming to inspire listeners to discover new perspectives, embrace novel experiences, or achieve more in their lives.

Rodrigo began by sharing the profound impact that yoga and Paramahansa Yogananda’s “Autobiography of a Yogi” had on his life. Introduced to yoga during his freshman year of college, he found the spiritual teachings in the book to be deeply influential. Interestingly, Yogananda shares the same birthday as Rodrigo, which he found to be a meaningful coincidence.

For movie recommendations, Rodrigo suggested “The Matrix,” a film rooted in Buddhist philosophy. The movie’s concept of waking up to reality, symbolized by taking the red pill, resonated with his own experiences of gaining deeper insights into the world and uncovering hidden truths.

When it comes to music, Rodrigo would choose anything by Zero 7, particularly their album “Simple Things.” He enjoys their chill, ambient style, which features early performances by Sia before her solo career.

The best advice Rodrigo ever received comes from a video by Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, who emphasizes the philosophy of seeing the good in every situation. Whether facing failure or setbacks, adopting the mindset of “good” helps one to reframe challenges as opportunities for growth and improvement. Rodrigo also shared a Zen story about a farmer whose reactions to various events highlight the neutrality of situations and the importance of perspective.

One significant lesson Rodrigo has learned is the concept of non-duality, which he explored through near-death experiences. This philosophy suggests that individuals are not the true agents of their actions; rather, a higher presence or the universe itself guides decisions. This perspective has helped him understand the interconnectedness of life and the idea that everything happens according to a greater order.

As a biohacking enthusiast, Rodrigo shared his best life hack: combining L-theanine with caffeine for a balanced energy boost without the jitters. He also practices cold exposure through cold showers and is working on setting up a cold plunge at home. These practices, along with using nootropics and peptides, help him optimize his health and performance.

Reflecting on success, Rodrigo believes that going the extra mile is key. He noted that successful individuals often exceed expectations and consistently put in extra effort. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of reading and continuous learning as a way to stay ahead and gain valuable insights.

Rodrigo is most excited about the potential of web3 to enable unstoppable applications, empowering individuals and creating new possibilities. On X (formerly Twitter), he recommends following Cultural Tutor for enriching content.

Finally, Rodrigo shared that his happiest moments are when he is skiing in fresh, knee or thigh-deep powder, embracing the thrill and freedom of the slopes.
