The GRTiQ 10: Matthew Darwin (Ep. 130)

During his dialogue with Nick on the GRTiQ Podcast, Matthew Darwin, Chief Infrastructure Officer and Co-Founder at Pinax, delved into the GRTiQ 10, offering listeners an array of intriguing insights and recommendations.

The book that profoundly influenced Matthew is “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking” by Susan Cain. As an introvert himself, this book resonated deeply with his personal experiences.

For screen entertainment, Matthew has a penchant for “The Amazing Race“. Given his extensive travels, the show provides him with a unique blend of global cultures and familiar locales.

In the realm of music, if faced with the choice of a single album for eternity, he’d opt for “Rumours” by Fleetwood Mac.

Matthew humorously recalled the best piece of advice he ever received: “I’m not approving that code for production.”

One peculiar skill Matthew possesses, which he believes most don’t, is the ability to operate a 35mm projector in a movie theater.

Matthew also shared a couple of life hacks that have been instrumental in his journey. The first is overcoming the fear of embarrassment when posing questions, especially in the ever-evolving web3 space. The second hack he gleaned from his time at HP: the importance of delineating between “interrupt” and “concentration” modes, ensuring one isn’t attempting both simultaneously.

When asked about the habits or characteristics integral to achieving success, Matthew’s answer was succinct: focus. He emphasized the power of consistent effort and dedication.

On the topic of web3, what excites Matthew the most is “the opportunity to change the world to do something better.”

Regarding the question of who to follow on Twitter, Matthew playfully questioned if Twitter still existed.

Finally, diving into his personal contentment, Matthew revealed that he’s most joyful when he’s at his computer, grappling with and resolving intricate problems. https://www.grtiq.com/grtiq-podcast-130-matthew-darwin/
