In the latest episode of the GRTiQ Podcast, Ayoola John, commonly known as AJ, joined Nick for the GRTiQ 10 segment, offering insights into his personal experiences and life philosophies.
AJ shared that the book “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie had a profound impact on his life from a young age. He found its lessons on interpersonal skills to be invaluable, shaping his ability to connect with others effectively.
When asked about movies, AJ recommended the film “Dune.” He appreciates its detailed and thoughtful storytelling, finding new insights with each viewing.
For music, AJ chose Bobby McFerrin, whose jazz music he describes as pure and peaceful. Although he couldn’t narrow it down to a single album, McFerrin’s work as a whole brings him a sense of tranquility.
The best life advice AJ received came from his mom: “Don’t try to do everything. If you were dead, things would move on.” This advice helped him understand the importance of prioritizing and not overwhelming himself.
AJ believes that courage is crucial for success, stating, “Everything you want is on the other side of fear.” He emphasized the need to face fears head-on to achieve one’s goals.
One of AJ’s favorite life hacks is the simple act of asking. He noted that many opportunities and favors are granted simply by making the request, a lesson he finds both empowering and practical.
Reflecting on success, AJ highlighted discipline as the key characteristic. He observed that highly successful individuals maintain strict routines and remain committed to their tasks regardless of their emotional state.
The final segment featured three complete-the-sentence questions. AJ expressed his excitement about the permissionless nature of web3, appreciating the freedom and accessibility it offers. On social media, he humorously suggested following his own account, Web3aj, for insightful content. Lastly, AJ shared that he is happiest when spending time with his family, which brings him immense joy and peace.
