The GRTiQ 10: Ariel Barmat (Ep. 164)

In a recent GRTiQ Podcast episode, Ariel Barmat shared his perspectives and experiences during the GRTiQ 10 segment, providing a fascinating glimpse into his thoughts on books, music, advice, and life lessons.

When asked about the book that had the most impact on his life, Ariel mentioned “Foundation” by Isaac Asimov. His love for science fiction shines through, reflecting his passion for exploring visionary ideas and futuristic concepts.

For TV show recommendations, Ariel enthusiastically suggested “Seinfeld,” the iconic comedy from the 80s. Despite its age, he finds it timelessly entertaining and continues to enjoy it even after 30 years.

When it comes to music, Ariel would choose “Heaven and Hell” by Black Sabbath if he could only listen to one album for the rest of his life. This choice highlights his appreciation for classic rock and its enduring appeal.

Ariel admits he isn’t particularly focused on advice received from others, instead valuing his own experiences. He believes the best lessons come from trying and doing things firsthand. This hands-on approach has shaped his perspective on learning and growth.

One significant lesson Ariel has learned is the importance of experiencing things for oneself. With the abundance of information available, he emphasizes that true understanding comes from personal experience rather than just consuming information.

As for a life hack, Ariel advocates for jumping into challenges headfirst. He believes that one discovers new limits and capabilities through action, reinforcing his belief in learning by doing.

Reflecting on habits or characteristics that lead to success, Ariel recommended Sam Altman’s blog post, “How To Be Successful.” The post emphasizes working hard, being comfortable with uncertainty, and being willing to take risks and fail. Ariel aligns with these principles, seeing them as essential for entrepreneurial success.

In the final segment, Ariel completed three sentences:

  1. The thing that most excites him about web3 is freedom and sovereignty.
  2. If you’re on X, formerly Twitter, you should be following Lex Fridman, whose podcasts Ariel finds amazing.
  3. He is happiest when he’s coding and building things, a testament to his passion for creation and innovation.
