The GRTiQ 10: Anthony Zhang (Ep. 146)

During a recent GRTiQ Podcast, Anthony Zhang provided listeners with a glimpse into his perspectives on life, personal influences, and insights that shape his daily decisions. The GRTiQ 10 is a weekly segment diving into the personal inspirations, influences, and insights of our guests, aiming to inspire listeners to discover new perspectives, embrace novel experiences, or achieve more in their lives.

Anthony began by recommending “Three Body Problem,” a novel by a Chinese sci-fi writer that Netflix is producing as a series. The story, which revolves around an impending alien invasion and humanity’s response, offers a profound reflection on civilization and is a must-read for sci-fi enthusiasts.

Musically, Anthony’s choice for an album to listen to for the rest of his life was challenging due to his diverse tastes. Recently, he has been enjoying the band Khruangbin, known for blending various genres. He appreciates their unique sound and would choose any of their albums for endless listening.

The best advice Anthony ever received came from his high school math teacher, who told him not to worry about what others think and to just be himself. This lesson, imparted after Anthony found himself on the teacher’s blacklist for no specific reason, has stayed with him and helped him navigate different phases of life.

Anthony shared a unique insight about the importance of trusting one’s instincts. Through his work in crypto, startups, and creative projects, he has learned that many decisions, even those made by top investors, are often driven by instinct. By trusting his gut and learning from mistakes, he has been able to refine his decision-making process.

A practical life hack Anthony discovered recently involves using a DIY method to keep the toilet fresh. By putting shaved soap and toothpaste into a small bag and placing it in the toilet, he found a way to maintain cleanliness and a pleasant smell without relying on store-bought products.

Reflecting on success, Anthony defines it as being surrounded by joyful people and experiencing happiness oneself. He believes that understanding oneself and knowing how to navigate the world is crucial for creating one’s own success. This self-awareness and connection with others form the foundation of true prosperity in his view.

Anthony expressed his excitement about web3, particularly the strong sense of community it fosters. This collaborative spirit is what drives his enthusiasm for the space.

For social media followers, Anthony recommended following Nader Dabit on X (formerly Twitter), who provides valuable insights into the web3 and tech communities.

Finally, Anthony shared that his happiest moments are when he is making music. This creative process brings him immense joy and fulfillment, reflecting his deep passion for music.
