The GRTiQ 10:José Betancourt (Ep. 185)

In a recent episode of the GRTiQ Podcast, José Betancourt shared his perspectives and insights during the GRTiQ 10 segment, offering a glimpse into the philosophies and habits that drive his life and career in web3.

José highlighted Cathie Wood’s Bitcoin Fundamental Valuation as the most impactful piece of writing in his journey into web3. This analysis, which valued Bitcoin based on its potential to replace international bank transfers, gold, and asset seizure protections, provided him with a compelling foundation for his belief in the industry. Despite Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest funds facing challenges, José remains steadfast in the long-term value of her perspectives.

When asked about movies and TV shows, José pointed to Interstellar as a cinematic masterpiece he cherished even before it gained widespread popularity. For TV, he recommended Suits for its lessons on negotiation and determination, as well as its entertainment value.

In music, José had a tough time choosing but leaned toward Lithium by Nirvana and Thriller by Michael Jackson, citing their lasting influence and acclaim.

The best advice José received was deceptively simple: “Don’t listen to advice.” This aligns with his belief that people often think they have life figured out much earlier than they truly do, advocating for a more open and evolving approach to understanding.

A transformative life hack for José has been deleting apps that drain his time and focus. By removing YouTube and using tools like Planty to limit phone use, he has optimized his productivity while balancing his love for educational content with intentionality.

When reflecting on success, José identified grit as the defining characteristic. For him, perseverance and resilience are fundamental to achieving meaningful milestones.

The thing that most excites me about the future of web3 is… “DeFi.”
If you’re on X (formerly Twitter), you should be following… “Mike Dudas, a refreshingly unfiltered voice in web3.”
I’m happiest when… “I have sunshine, warmth, and accomplishment.”
